Websites for groundworkers
The best of your work ends up under concrete, tarmac or a lawn. Your website is where it stays visible, with the photos you took while the ground was open.
A few minutes.
Free to look. £19 a month to go live, for six months, then £29.
Photograph it before it’s buried
A neat trench, a drain laid to fall, steel in the footings before the pour. Nobody sees any of it once the job’s finished, except in the photos on your phone.
Add a past job with a line about it, foundations for an extension or a soakaway in a back garden, and attach the photos. We write it up so a customer can follow what you did.
No photos of a service yet? A stock picture of ours stands in, labelled as stock in your editor, until you swap in one from the job.
Builders, homeowners and the drive out front
Some of your calls come from builders who need the ground ready for their own trades. Others come from a homeowner who wants a new drive and a dropped kerb to get onto it.
Say who each past job was for in the line you write about it, a builder’s extension or a family’s new drive. The builder starts you on a groundworker’s usual list, foundations and drainage first.
Where you’ll travel to
Groundwork means a digger on a trailer, so where you’ll go matters. Name your home town and every place you’d take the digger, and each is listed on your website.
If there are jobs you won’t take, septic tanks or underpinning perhaps, there’s a box for work you’d rather turn down. We keep it off the site.
Your jobs, ticked for you
Step three of the builder starts groundworkers with these. Keep them, untick them, or add your own.
Ticked to start with
- Foundations
- Drainage
- Driveways
- Excavation
- Concrete bases
- Patios & paving
On the list to add
- Soakaways
- Septic tanks
- Dropped kerbs
- Underpinning
- Service trenches
- Site clearance
The groundworker we made up
To show the shape of one, we made up Whatnall Groundworks, in Syston, and built its website with our own builder. Its past jobs:
- Footings for a kitchen extension, Birstall
- Block-paved drive, Rothley
- Drain relaid, Thurmaston
- Base for a garden room, Queniborough
- Soakaway for the roof water, Syston
Questions
- A lot of my work is for other contractors. Is a website worth it?
- That’s for you to judge. It gives a builder who’s heard your name somewhere to check your work and your number, and it costs nothing to build it and look.
- Can I put up photos from a job that’s still going?
- Yes. Add the job and its photos whenever you like, from your editor. Nothing goes on your live website until you press Publish.
How it works
Three simple stepsTell us about your business
Your trade, your town, the jobs you take on. Rough answers are fine: we do the writing.
We write and build it
A website written from your answers and nothing else, laid out in one of our designs, that reads right on a phone. No logo? We’ll draw you one from your business name.
You look, change, decide
Change anything, in your own words. Nothing goes live until you subscribe.
