Questions

How do I change the words on my website?
Open Your website and pick the part of the page you want to change. Everything you type is saved as you go, and none of it reaches your website until you press Publish — so you can rewrite a section, look at it, and change your mind.
How do I add or swap a photo?
Same place: Your website, then the card for the photo you want to change. Photos work like the words do — the new one sits in your changes until you publish, so nothing appears on your website before you have seen it.
My logo is hard to see at the top of my website.
Some of the styles print your logo on a dark strip, and a logo drawn in dark ink can all but disappear on one. If you have a lighter version of your logo — the one you would put on a dark van or a dark sign — you can send us that as well. Open Your website, go to Your logo, and switch from One logo to Two versions: you will get a second box for the version to use on dark backgrounds. Your usual logo stays exactly where it is and keeps being used everywhere else, and like everything else on that page, nothing changes on your website until you press Publish.
Why isn't my website on the internet yet?
Two separate things have to be true: a subscription has to be running, and you have to have pressed Publish. Your billing page says whether the first is done and your website page says whether the second is — and if you have just subscribed, your website goes live with your changes in it.
How do I change my business name or trade?
Both are on your account page. The name and your web address change straight away, and the words inside your pages change when you next publish — so the top of your website updates today and the paragraphs update when you say so. Your old address keeps working for a while, so nothing anybody has written down stops working overnight. Changing your trade is a bigger job: you pick the trade, the jobs you take on and the work you want to show, and we write your website again around them. None of that reaches the internet until you press Publish, and your photos, your past jobs and your address stay exactly as they are.
How do I put my social profiles on my website?
In the editor, under Your social links. Paste the address of a profile — the one your browser shows when you are looking at it — and we work out which service it is and draw the right mark at the foot of every page. That block lists every service we can draw, with directions for finding your own address on each, and you can pick what colour the marks are. Nothing shows up on your website until you publish, the same as everything else in the editor.
How do I add or change the phone number customers ring?
On your account page — and if you left it blank when you built your website, that is where you add one, and your website gets a call button. This one is different from everything else: it goes live the moment you save it. A number that has changed is wrong on the internet right now, so we do not make you publish to correct it.
Can I take Built with TradeEasy off my website?
Every website on Get online says "Built with" and our name at the foot of its pages, and there is no setting for it. It comes off with Get found, which isn't on sale yet.
Can I have more than one website?
An account holds one. Everything on the one you have can be changed — the words, the photos, the jobs you have done, the name and the address — so there is very little a second one could do that the first cannot.
What happens if I cancel?
Your website stays up until the end of the period you have paid for, and then it comes down. Nothing is deleted: your words, your photos and your web address are all still there and waiting on Home, and nobody else can be given your address.
I can't log in.
There is no password to get wrong — we email you a link and a six-digit code, and either one gets you in. A link lasts fifteen minutes and works once, so if you have opened an old email, ask for a new one. If nothing arrives, check the address you are typing is the one your account is under.

Your Google Business Profile

What Google may say while it checks yours, and what to do.

How do I set up my Google Business Profile?
A Business Profile is Google's own free listing for your business, on Google Maps and in Google's search. Once your website is live, Home has a row for it: we fill the profile in from your website, and you copy each box into Google's own form, signed in to your own Google account so the profile is yours. Then Google checks the business is real. Google does that checking itself, and we can't see it or hurry it — the answers below are what it may say on the way.
Google says someone else may manage this Business Profile.
Somebody may have added your business already, or you may have started a profile before. Choose Request access and fill in Google's form. Google says it emails whoever looks after the profile, and they have three days to answer; if they don't, Google says you may be able to claim it yourself from the email it sent you, under View request.
Google wants a video of my business.
Google chooses how it checks a new profile, and for a business that goes out to its customers it often asks for a short video, recorded there and then in the Business Profile on your phone. Google says to show where you work from, with a street sign or a landmark nearby; that the business is real, with the tools, equipment or van you work with; and that it is yours to run, with something only you could get at, such as a document with the business name on it. Google says it has to be one take, with no breaks or edits, at least 30 seconds long — and that its check can take up to five working days.
Google wants to call, text or email me a code.
Then that is the way it has chosen for your profile. Type the code in on your profile where Google asks for it. Google says it decides which ways to offer each profile and they can't be changed; if a code doesn't reach you, Google's own help says to try another way it offers, or to contact Google's support.
Google is posting me a code.
Google says most codes in the post arrive inside fourteen days, and each one lasts thirty days. While you wait, don't change the business name, address or category on the profile — Google says the code won't work if you do — and don't ask for a new code, which stops the one already in the post from working.
Google says it's checking my profile.
Then there's nothing to do but wait. Google says its checks take up to five working days, and now and then longer, and it emails you when your business is verified.
Google says my video wasn't accepted.
Google puts a Review issues notice on your profile when a video didn't show everything it needs. Press Review issues: Google says why, and you can record a new one that shows what was missing.
The Get verified button is back on my profile.
Google says that means it couldn't completely verify your business. Press it and do what Google asks this time, which may be a different way from before. If none of the ways it offers works for you, Google's own help says to contact Google's support.
Google says my Business Profile is suspended.
Google suspends a profile it thinks breaks its rules, and while it is suspended nobody can see it and you can't change it. Appeal through Google's Business Profile appeals tool: sign in, pick the profile, read the reason Google gives, and press Submit appeal. Google says documents help — your business's registration, a licence, a tax certificate or a utility bill — with the name and address matching the profile, and that once you open its form for them you have an hour to send them. Don't make a new profile for the business while you wait, and don't appeal the same thing twice. Google says a decision can take up to five working days, and it emails you the answer.
